Vehicle Loop Sensors

In-ground detection loops that tell a compatible gate system a vehicle is there — cut into the lane, wired to a detector and set up with the operator.

What It Is

Detection under the pavement, not on the post

A loop is wire set into a saw cut in the driving surface, connected to a detector at the operator. It supports functions like opening on exit, holding the gate while a vehicle is in the path, or triggering a barrier arm — where the loop and detector are compatible with the installed system.

What We Look At

Layout, Function and Compatibility

Loops are laid out for the job they need to do at that specific lane.

  • 01

    Loop function

Loops can be laid out for exit, presence, reverse or activation duties, depending on what the opening needs to do.

  • 02

    Placement in the lane

Position relative to the gate path, the stop point and the traffic direction determines whether a loop reads a vehicle correctly.

  • 03

    Detector & operator

Loops run through a detector wired to the operator. Compatibility with the equipment on site is confirmed before installation.

  • 04

    Pavement condition

Asphalt or concrete condition affects the saw cut and sealing, so the surface is reviewed as part of the plan.
