In-Ground Motors
Below-grade operators for suitable swing gate applications, where the goal is to keep surface hardware off the gate and out of view.
What It Is
The operator sits below grade, not on the post
An in-ground operator is installed in a housing at the hinge point instead of mounted on the gate or post. It's chosen on entries where the appearance of the gate matters and the site can accommodate the excavation.

What Gets Assessed
Suitability Is Confirmed Before Installation
In-ground operators are not right for every opening. These are the conditions we review on site.
- 01
Site conditions
Below-grade equipment needs an excavation the site can actually support — soil, existing hardscape and utilities are reviewed first.
- 02
Drainage
Water has to have somewhere to go. Drainage at the operator box is assessed as part of the installation plan, not assumed.
- 03
Gate configuration
Leaf weight, leaf length, hinge alignment and swing direction determine whether an in-ground operator is the right fit for the gate.
- 04
Equipment compatibility
The operator, controls, safety devices and gate hardware all have to work together before the box goes in the ground.
Considering a concealed operator?
Send the gate configuration and driveway details and we'll review whether an in-ground operator suits the site.
