HID Cards

HID credential formats installed with readers and controllers that support them, so credentials, reader and panel all speak the same language.

What It Is

The credential format has to match the system

HID formats are common in commercial and multifamily access systems. Where they fit is determined by the readers and controller at the property, so the format, reader and panel are confirmed together rather than assumed.

Considerations

Before Credentials Are Ordered

Format matching prevents cards that read on one door and not another.

  • 01

    Existing credentials

Cards already circulating at the property are reviewed before anything new is specified.

  • 02

    Reader compatibility

Readers are selected for the credential format actually in use.

  • 03

    Controller support

The panel has to accept the format and the number of users involved.

  • 04

    Adding entries later

Expanding to more gates or doors is easier when the format is consistent from the start.
